Establish what "not working" means
A stiff dial, an unresponsive touch panel and a cooktop with no life at all are three different jobs. They arrive under one description and separate immediately.

Stiff dials: the valve stems

Three free things first. Dry your hands — these panels read capacitance and water on a fingertip confuses them. Check the control lock, which is easy to set without meaning to. And check whether the panel is in sleep mode, which looks identical to a dead one. The maker publishes all three as the causes, and between them they end a good share of these calls.
The cooktop will not turn on at all.
Start at the breaker, and specifically at both poles of it. A cooktop on a two-pole breaker with one leg tripped can look completely dead or behave very strangely, and it is not an appliance problem. After that, a control that has locked up after an outage is worth a full minute at the breaker before anything else.
Can a single dial be replaced?
