It walks across the floor on spin.
Level and feet first — free, and the answer often enough to be worth doing before you call. If it is level and it still walks, the suspension has worn: dampers, springs or rods depending on the machine. That is a real repair and a common one, and it is worth doing before it damages something that is not repairable.
The lid will not unlock and the cycle has finished.
Try the power off and on at the wall first — many locks release on a control reset. If it does not, the lock or the switch that reports its position is the repair. Do not force it: on most of these the lock is a small part and the lid is not, and the wrong ten seconds converts one into the other.
Everything is soaking wet at the end.
Two candidates. The machine did not spin — suspension, motor or control — or it did not drain, which is the other laundry page. The difference is audible: a machine that never reached spin speed and a machine that spun on top of standing water sound completely different, and it is worth listening once before you book.
Is the suspension worth replacing on an old machine?
Usually yes, because it is a mechanical part rather than an electronic one, which means availability is on your side. It is also the repair that protects everything else — a machine that walks does damage to itself, to its hoses and to the floor. Where it is not worth it, you get told.
