Read the pattern properly
Count the beeps, or count along the LED panel to the light that is flashing. That number is the code. It is also the one piece of evidence that disappears the moment somebody clears the alarm, which is why we ask you not to.

Establish which family it belongs to

What does F5 mean?
On this maker's refrigeration it belongs to the temperature and sensor family — that is what the maker publishes, and it does not publish a separate meaning for each number in the family. Our page for it says exactly that. It is genuinely useful information: it puts the visit in the sensing half of the machine rather than the mechanical half, before anybody drives anywhere.
Why does this maker not put a number on the display?
Because on much of this line there is no display to put it on — an integrated column behind a cabinet panel has a control strip, not a screen. So the machine reports by beeping and by lighting an LED, and the maker publishes how to read it. It works, but only if nobody clears the alarm before writing it down.
The temperature says 37 and the milk is freezing.
That is the classic sensor complaint, and it is a cheap repair with an accurate diagnosis. The cabinet is controlling perfectly to a number that is wrong. Measuring the sensor settles it, and it is one of the few repairs where the part costs less than the diagnosis that found it.
Everything went odd after a power cut.
Try a full minute at the breaker — not a quick flick, a full minute — before assuming anything is broken. Storm season leaves controls in states they will not leave on their own, and this is the cheapest repair in the trade. If it comes back after that, then it is worth a visit.
