And one machine belongs to no other maker on this fleet — the **CoolDrawer**, a multi-temperature drawer that can be run as a freezer, a chiller, a refrigerator, a pantry or a wine drawer. ### What we are called out for - **A warm fresh-food side with a cold freezer.** Airflow far more often than refrigerant: a fan, a damper, or a defrost cycle that has stopped clearing the evaporator. - **Ice.** Nothing at all, slowly, in the wrong size, or tasting of the refrigerator. Is that a problem? Usually not, and the maker publishes an article about it because it is asked so often. Warm panels around the door frame and down the center of a column pair are the condenser loop and the anti-condensation heater doing their job, and in a Miami kitchen in August they will be noticeably warm. What is worth a call is warm plus something else: warm and the compartment drifting up, warm and the compressor running continuously, or a warm patch that appeared suddenly on a machine that never had one. ### What is different about repairing an Integrated column? The access, and almost nothing else. The part that has failed is usually the same fan, sensor or valve you would find in a freestanding machine. What is different is that your cabinet door is hung on the appliance, the machine is fixed to the surround it was cut into, and the water line and the electrical connection sit behind it. Coming out and going back true is planned time rather than a surprise, which is exactly why we give a starting figure and confirm it after seeing the installation. ### My refrigerator is beeping and a light is flashing. What is it telling me? On these machines that pattern is the code. The maker's own instruction for the ActiveSmart refrigerators is to count the beeps — five beeps is F5 — or to count along the LED panel to the flashing light. Note the number before you call: it takes a diagnosis from "the refrigerator is unhappy" to a named family of causes, and it is the first thing anybody will ask you for. ### Ice tastes wrong, or the cubes have gone small. Start with the filter and the date it was last changed, because both complaints follow a filter that is past its life, and both are cheap to rule out. After that, small cubes and slow production are usually the fill valve or the water pressure reaching it rather than the ice maker itself. A bad taste that survives a new filter is worth looking at properly — it is often the supply line or a long-unused dispenser rather than the machine. ### Is a CoolDrawer repaired like a refrigerator? Mostly yes. It is a sealed refrigeration system in a drawer, with the same compressor, evaporator and sensors as a small refrigerator, plus the control that lets it be run at five different temperatures. Two things are specific to it: the drawer runners carry a loaded, sealing drawer, and the temperature mode you have it set to changes what "not cold enough" means.
